Winter Reading Selections

If you are looking for something to read right this very moment take a peek at these - there is something for everyone whether you want something serious or trashy aka "light reading" as I like to call it. I did not pick these out of a hat but in the interest of full disclosure have not read any of them yet. I have read print reviews as well as the reviews on Amazon and these are all in my cart - if you're not convinced wait a month or so and I will report back with my follow-up:

The Pirate's Daughter (this has been in my cart forever & is at the top of my list)
The Beautiful Fall: Fashion, Genius, and Glorious Excess in 1970s Paris (now in paperback)
Celebutantes (the name says it all)
Deep Dish (for you Southern gals)
The Opposite of Love (this sounds really good)
The Last Single Woman in America (for the single gals)

FYI - Most of these titles are available in Abridged Audiobook format for you ladies on the go!

There are a ton of books being released in April that there are no photos or descriptions for yet including an untitled novel by Lauren Weisberger (The Devil Wears Prada).

Pardon my ignorance - is it possible to listen to books on an IPod? I recently recieved one as a gift (a Nano) and, so far, have only figured out how to buy songs and movies from iTunes. I know there is a way to upload/download? CDs and DVDs, but I'm not there yet. Thanks!

Another Q/thought - is there anything like Netflix for books?

Yes! You can download books through iTunes under their Audiobooks button on the left or you can join an online bookclub like Audible.com (if you are planning on downloading more than a few a year). Audible works like a bookclub and certain titles are on sale. You also receive credits when you buy books that can be redeemed later. It's great for the beach or the car in my case. Thanks for asking - perhaps I should do a whole post on this!

Cricket, I'm a HUGE fan of the books on iPod (thanks to A.'s assistance). If you have iTunes, in addition to downloading books from iTunes, Audible.com downloads directly to your iTunes and then you can sync your iPod with your computer to l load the audiobooks onto your iPod.

A. - Yes, I'd love some recommendations on new audiobooks. Something along the lines of the "Little Pink Slips" and others you recommended to me previously. I'm so bummed that I'm finished with the "Shopaholic" series. Those were very entertaining.
